The Zingaro reserve: a casket of surprises
A surprise awaits you in the stretch of land between San Vito lo Capo and Castellammare del Golfo.
Your shoes - closed, possibly gymnastics or trekking - will take the color of the trampled land, a mix of rock and reddish brown earth. The more you walk and the more your shoes will carry with them all the signs and colors of the road traveled, of the accumulated fatigue.
Your backpacks they will have the weight of the food and drinks of which, in such a place, it is impossible to do without. And they will have the weight of everything you think you need to spend short or long moments of relaxation in beaches far from everything. The weight of an unforgettable experience.
Your clothes, light and breathable, suitable for a summer walk. A hat and cream as protectors from the fearsome sunrays. And strictly you will wear swimwear, because basically, you will be there for this.
Your body will thank you: you will enjoy the clean air that only in a nature reserve you can find; seven kilometers of coastline and more than a thousand and five hundred hectares of unspoiled nature, so you can walk in silence and relax. No paved roads, lights of shops and dazzling cars.
You will discover the charm of walking among cork oaks, Palm nana, wild thyme, carob and odorous brooms. You will cross more than 27 mushroom species, and you probably will not even notice it. Rabbits, foxes, weasels and hedgehogs will observe you and accompany you along the crossing without bothering you, remaining half hidden among the vegetation and in the caves.
It's possible choose the path that is more suited to its means or to its tastes: the coastal one, by far the most beaten by tourists; the half-way path, the most scenic; and the high path, certainly the most interesting, evocative and tiring.
Your mind will thank you, not just walks and swims: inside the reserve it is in fact possible to find and visit the Naturalistic Museum, the Museum of marine activities, the Museum of the rural culture, the Museum of the manna and the Center for environmental education; because if you know well, you appreciate even more all the charm that "the Gypsy" gives to the visitor.
But if every year the reserve is home to thousands of tourists, it is certainly thanks to them, the protagonists of the panorama, what you almost certainly will have gone and what you will surely remember and tell when you return home: coves of the Zingaro nature reserve.
The main ones are seven - even if it does not mean that you can not find others, smaller, smaller and therefore less traveled by tourists - and they are: Cala Tonnarella dell'Uzzo, Cala dell'Uzzo, Cala Marinella, Cala Berretta, Cala della Disa, Cala del Varo e Cala Capreria. Each with its characteristics, with its details, with its colors, while always bringing with it something that unites them all: clear beaches, crystal clear water and breathtaking backdrops.
The Zingaro Nature Reserve: a satisfying surprise for the body, pleasing to the senses, indimenticabile for anyone.
